Flights
* We need two airline tickets (round trip from Nashville, or connecting from another place) We need the tickets to be booked under Gianna Jessen and Michael Longenecker unless told otherwise.
* Each sponsor is responsible for arranging airfare. We are not responsible for arranging airfare.
* We prefer window seats. We travel all the time and do not need to sit together.
* For an evening event we will fly in the same day and we need to arrive around 2pm or 3pm in the afternoon.
* For a morning or afternoon event we will generally come in the night before.
* Please email us the itineraries for approval before ticketing to: bookings@giannajessen.com. This is necessary because sometimes we are not flying directly from Nashville, but from another event.
Hotels
* Very Important! Giving your credit card over the phone to the hotel does not purchase the rooms. It reserves the rooms only. You need to give permission to the hotel staff to charge the rooms to a particular credit card prior to our arrival. Otherwise we cannot check in. Please email hotel confirmations to: bookings@giannajessen.com
* We need two rooms with one bed in each. They need to be reserved under our names and they don't need to be handicapped accessible. We do need hotels with elevators. Please do not disclose the name of our hotel to anyone.
Rental Cars
* We appreciate your willingness to pick us up, but it is our policy to rent a car. We will reserve it. Rental car reimbursement will be determined by our contractual agreement.
* Please email directions to each location with approximate time frames to: bookings@giannajessen.com
* Since our policy is to rent a car, we do not need to be met at the airport. We will provide you with the " Nervous Wreck Sponsor Hotline", so that you can rest assured that we have arrived safely. Michael is practically a human compass, so we will not get lost, and if we do, we'll call you. We look forward to meeting you!
Sound Requirements/Sound checks /Why I Sing
* Please provide the sound requirements requested. Even if they may seem unimportant, a horrible sound system makes an event sound horrible! The requirements are quite simple and they are as follows:
| * A person to run the sound ( that actually runs sound)
* Mixing board
* Michael plays the guitar and piano very well. If possible, please provide a well tuned, mic'd piano. If this is not possible, he'll play the guitar.
* Guitar requirements: direct box, guitar stand, instrument cable
* Two monitors, as these help us to hear ourselves
* Two vocal mics ( we both sing, they don't need to be cordless ) one boom stand and one straight stand
* One stool for Michael ( Gianna doesn't prefer one )
* Our sound check is a maximum of 15 minutes if the sound is set up. The time we do the sound check will vary ( usually not long before the people are seated )
* Music is a vital part of " the story ", often, music helps people who are not receptive to certain subjects become so after hearing some music.
A Little About the Presentation Itself.....
* We sing three songs at the beginning, three minutes or less in length
* Gianna speaks for about 30 minutes after the music. Included in that time is an appeal if they are participating in a fundraiser. ( you usually receive more money at a fundraiser allowing the speaker to do the appeal )
* The whole presentation is approximately 45 minutes. ( sometimes less, never more )
* We would appreciate it if none of Gianna's story is used to introduce her. Using what Mother Teresa said about Gianna is usually a suitable introduction and can be found on this site.
Upon Conclusion
* Gianna will go to a table near the exit. Please provide a long table and two chairs.
* Please do not set books or other items out ahead of time as we have discovered that people like to give one to themselves!
* Please email a shipping address to: bookings@giannajessen.com
A Few Final Thoughts.....
* We highly recommend publicizing your event by contacting your local media for maximum turnout. Email requests to: interviews@giannajessen.com
* Please do not discuss financial arrangements or other matters pertaining to our agreement publicly. All financial matters will be handled beforehand and must be kept confidential.
* We adapt to suit our audience-whether it is a youth event, women's event, fund raising banquet, corporate, or political event. We do not sing at corporate or political events.
* At fund raising banquets, we have found ( after 15 years ) that it is usually beneficial to keep the number of speaker's to a minimum at your event. It is possible for your audience to become tired or bored if things go on too long.
* We find that people want to take us out to eat once we come into town. This is very kind and we appreciate it, but usually after traveling all day, we are too tired. We want to maintain lots of energy for your event, so we generally decline.
* We realize most event sponsors/event coordinators are nervous the day of their event. This is understandable! Rest assured, we really are coming and we won't miss your event. We've been doing this a long time. We won't be calling you en route because we're busy getting to you! Everything is going to be great! But.....for your comfort on the day of the event, we have set up the " Nervous Wreck Sponsor Hotline ". Before calling, ask yourself, " Can this be handled relatively easily once they arrive?" If not, feel free to call the hotline. We will provide it before arrival.
* We look forward to meeting you!
